Books

I have found that university can be hectic, so reading is something I do to unwind. I adored the Famous Five series, which my parents read to me as a child. In my teenage years I found it hard to find books I liked - thank goodness for Harry Potter, which filled a void in my reading. I still love to re-read them now and they are as magical as they were first time around. I enjoyed the Jane Austen classics, as well as Ian McEwan’s Atonement, The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Dawn French’s hilarious A Tiny Bit Marvellous and My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult, whose moral dilemmas I enjoyed.

Music

I probably have a different taste in music from other people my age. I have memories of listening to The Carpenters, Cat Stevens and Simply Red in the car as a child. I love Take That, whom I have been listening to since their first time round, as well as The Script and the soulful sound of Adele.

TV

Inspector Morse and the follow-on series of Lewis are my guilty pleasures; they are entertaining and always leave you guessing till the last minute. Miranda is hilarious and a great programme to watch for some light relief after a busy day. I like to keep up to date with current affairs through Question Time and BBC News at Ten. I have a passion for baking, so I am enjoying the current series of The Great British Bake Off as well as the American series Ace of Cakes, set in Baltimore.

Film

Love Actually is probably my favourite film, followed closely by the Back to the Future trilogy. As a massive Harry Potter Fan, I have of course seen all of the films and frequently rewatch them on DVD.
