Books
As a child I loved reading Roald Dahl, and I would sit and laugh until it hurt reading The Twits. Other favourites were Jacqueline Wilson’s books and Malorie Blackman’s Noughts and Crosses - it describes an alternative history in which Europeans became the slaves of Africans. I love to read but at the moment I don’t have enough time to do it for leisure, although I did finish The Help by Kathryn Stockett at Christmas - which was recently adapted as a film - and I thought it was fantastic. It’s about African-American maids in Mississippi in the 1960s and makes you cry one second, and laugh out loud another. The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson is a favourite, too, and I love reading classics such as Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice.
Music
I’m currently into Adele, Dionne Bromfield and my favourite female artist, Beyonce. I usually listen to a mixture of music, ranging from older songs by Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, rock music by Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix and modern bands such as Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age and Kings of Leon, as well as a good bit of pop music that I can dance to. I love to go and watch a live band. Vampire Weekend have always been amazing live, as are The Bootleg Beatles - my mum and I go and see them every Christmas.
Films
My favourite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany’s, as I adore Audrey Hepburn and New York. I love to watch old movies and I’ve pretty much watched anything starring Judy Garland, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Doris Day. My guilty pleasure is to watch Disney films - classics like The Aristocats and The Jungle Book.
