An "international virtual dental school" has appointed a visiting professor from the Western Isles. E-learning expert Frank Rennie, head of research and postgraduate development at Lews Castle College on Lewis, will help provide worldwide dental education through the UK Government project, to be launched in May. The project - Universal Dental E-learning, or UDENTE - is based at King's College London. Director of flexible learning, Patricia Reynolds, said Professor Rennie had impressed with his knowledge of global learning, especially in remote areas. The University of the Highlands and Islands was already involved through Isobel Madden, head of the Inverness-based school of oral health science.
