* Careful planning has to be in normal limits of staff time * Ask schools that have done it before * Buy in independent advice - local authority's IT service may be available * Don't be over-ambitious in what you expect from the network in the first year * Put as many outlet points as you can, even if it seems over the top - at least two in every classroom * Every department needs one computer-rich area with 20-30 outlets * Find someone with expertise andwillingness to become network manager * Put a machine on every teacher's desk, that they can take home if they want * Provide a regular programme of training appropriate to staff needs
