Never forget the elephants

For more than two decades it has been clear that “good schools” are defined primarily by the capability and behaviour not of their teaching staff so much as their pupil intake and there are local variations.

This is the elephant in the room that everyone is trying to ignore. The sooner all concerned admit this fact, the better.
