Rules for school transport are to be tightened in a Government amendment to the Education (Scotland) Bill. Education authorities will have to take account of a pupil's age and safety on alternative routes before rejecting transport requests. The change does not cover the statutory delivery of school transport which is regarded as satisfactory.
