JONATHAN Slater has become Islington’s new education director.The north London authority has contracted out its schools service to Cambridge Education Associates and Mr Slater’s brief will include making sure the company meets its performance targets. Mr Slater, 38, who take over from temporary director Simon Jenkin, joined Islington’s policy unit 10 years ago and remains as deputy chief executive of the council. Mr Jenkin was this week appointed to produce an action plan for improving post-16 provision in Islington and
Hackney.
