themightyboosh: You need to lay your stall out early. Not saying it needs to be an “all guns blazing” approach, but it is essential to start as you mean to go on. . .

* atecomer: Remember they are just as nervous about you as you are about them!

* uckwell: Advice I was given before taking up my first headship - notice everything, praise a lot, change nothing. I managed the first two (and hope I still do) but failed with the third. Try to avoid sentences that begin “In my last school. . .”
