I have read that the new pay settlement will mean changes to the management points on the pay scale. Can you tell me what’s happening?

As part of the recent settlement on teachers’ pay, the Secretary of State for Education accepted that a new way forward is required on management allowances so that they are better targeted to those with extra responsibilities for teaching and learning in schools. Existing allowances will be frozen from April 2004 and a new system will be developed. It is strange that with other changes taking place from September 2005, more time has not been allowed for this particular change.
