New page for a new agenda

Who could disagree with the assertion that every child matters? That is surely the belief of every school and every teacher. So the Government’s Change for Children agenda, aiming to bring everyone who works with young people into a closer partnership, has been broadly welcomed throughout the education world. Great in theory. But what does it mean in practice? Ministers have issued broad directives but on the ground the rule appears to be suck it and see.

The TES hopes that it can help. This week sees the launch of our new weekly Children’s Agenda page (page 29) to provide a focus for debate, information and ideas. It will show how schools and local authorities around the country are putting policy into practice, look at the work of other agencies, and find helpful guidance and advice. It will remain firmly child-centred.
