Former PE teacher Stewart Harris has been appointed chief executive of SportScotland. He has been acting chief executive since the surprise departure of former Great Britain hockey goalkeeper Ian Taylor last April after a brief time in the post.

Mr Harris was responsible for developing the school sports co-ordinator programme and setting up the Active Schools network.
