New units for disruptive pupils

The Government is to fund 60 learning support units, serving 200 primary schools, as part of its drive to tackle indiscipline and disruption in English schools. The first will open in September.

These school-based units costing pound;8 million will take children at rsk of exclusion and will be the first of their kind in primary schools. The pilotprimary units will be established in the Excellence in Cities areas of Inner London, ManchesterSalford,LiverpoolKnowsley, Birmingham, LeedsBradford and SheffieldRotherham.
