A CONTROVERSIAL attempt to fill seven senior posts at the new combined secondary in Stornoway with replacements hired on fixed-term contracts has been dropped by the Western Isles. New appointments, which follow an unprecedented clear-out of the entire top management, will now be permanent. An interim school board comprising the boards of the two schools involved, the Nicolson Institute and Lews Castle, will be involved in leeting and interviewing candidates. The previous Nicolson board resigned en masse in May last year after falling out with the school management.
