Alistair Coull, a retired classics teacher who declined verbs in Turriff Academy until recently, had hoped for a pupil-free future when he signed up as a volunteer on the Keith and Dufftown Railway.
But now he’s co-ordinator for school visits to the 11-mile attraction and has even put a set of worksheets together. “There is no escape,” he admitted. “School visits are a growing market for us, so I’ll be keeping youngsters on the tracks for some years to come.”
