She was supervising a dinner queue, proudly displaying a "5050" lapel badge in the Suffragette colours of green and purple, when a child came to the obvious conclusion. "Hey, miss, is it your birthday?" Ferries can still see considerable daylight between her last birthday and her 50th.
The campaign for women's representation in the Scottish parliament has not surprisingly struck a chord with May Ferries, outgoing EIS president and Glasgow primary teacher.
