No watchdog;Letter

Oh dear, Mr Blunkett - what a missed opportunity!

I read with some dismay of the General Teaching Council date set as September 2000 (TES, April 24). Yes, we do need a national forum but no, we are not in need of another "watchdog" - which was the emphasis of the article. Michael Barber in his book The Learning Game, proposed an alternative, the Learning Council, which would surely place the emphasis more firmly on what we are all trying to achieve.
