A film of the book thousands of Edinburgh citizens will be reading this spring is available free on the internet.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is this year’s choice for the One Book - One Edinburgh citywide reading campaign, which will see 10,000 free copies of the book distributed across the city.

The 1920 silent version of the film starring John Barrymore - one of 123 screen versions - can be viewed at www.cityofliterature.com. It will also be screened at Edinburgh Filmhouse on February 23, at 1pm.

A recording of crime author Ian Rankin reading his new introduction to the book is available on the same website.
