The winner of Learndirect Scotland’s Learning Centre of the Year award (FE Focus, page four) has more going for it than first appearances would indicate.
The location of the South Carrick Open Opportunities Project (Scoop) is impressive enough: a restored Victorian town house overlooking Girvan harbour with (on a clear day and flexible neck muscles) a view across to Ailsa Craig.
No wonder the centre has more than 1,300 clients, none of whom, of course, has ever been required to attend the premises on the building’s ground floor - the local district court.
