. . . not “providing courses”, that is. We learn from the Scottish Executive’s research report on getting schools and colleges to work together that some are still more equal than others.

“Participation in college courses is variable by gender,” we are told, “and a few college contacts noted that they were currently less able to cater for girls due to their emphasis on providing courses in the skilled trades.”

Less able indeed.
