Pupils at Starbank Primary in Birmingham launched the school’s Rocket Radio station, the culmination of a project that saw them working with industry professionals on a range of writing, planning and production skills.

Families campaigning for a state-funded Montessori primary for Brighton and Hove met Green MP Caroline Lucas last week at the current Montessori School in the Fiveways area of Brighton, where pupils were preparing raised beds in the garden.

Spinfield School in Marlow supported the 1GOAL campaign, which aims to use the power of football to ensure that education for all is a lasting impact of the World Cup, by making a 40 metre scarf to send to the Prime Minister.

Former Olympic champion Tessa Sanderson attended an awards ceremony at Leyton Sixth Form College, east London, where some 70 high-achieving students received certificates and voucher prizes.

John Ogilvie High in Hamilton has been named Spanish School of the Year 2010 by the Spanish Embassy in London for the way it has used study of the country’s language and culture to promote international education and global citizenship.
