The Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson, Portsmouth, have proved their crack team credentials by winning the Ruth Borthwick Award 2010 - not to mention a #163;500 prize - for its school project “Eggstreme Armour”. The scheme used the threat of a rotten egg to teach pupils from the South East about protective clothing through the ages, from Norman and Viking helmets to plastic headgear and Kevlar vests.
