School staffing specialist Randstad Education has sponsored Runcorn Reps Amateur Swimming Club to the tune of 35 towels, helping keep kit costs down for pupils attending a swimming camp in Majorca next February.

Lord Hill, the parliamentary under-secretary for schools, helped Devon’s oldest primary and newest academy, Broadclyst, celebrate its bicentenary.

Despite being housed in a Grade II-listed building, Broadclyst Primary has been transformed by new technology. Pupils re-enacted scenes from the 200-year history of the school and interviewed Lord Hill in its #163;22,000 studio to mark the occasion.

Former prime minister Gordon Brown paid a visit to St John Plessington Catholic College in Merseyside, hailing it as “TES School of the Year” (it was our Outstanding Secondary, to be precise).

Students from Leyton Sixth Form in east London and Xavier Sixth Form in south London took part in the first youth mock debate at Westminster’s Supreme Court.
