Students in the sustainability team at Felsted School in Essex have turned 500kg of fallen apples into over #163;100 worth of juice. The proceeds will fund further sustainability initiatives.

Shadow business secretary John Denham opens the Technical Academy at East Durham College. The training centre will prepare learners for careers in the construction industry.

The band Two Spot Gobi, which has toured with Michael Buble, Jason Mraz and Bruno Mars, spends a day writing songs and playing music with students at Fortismere School in Muswell Hill, north London.

Children from five Bolton primary schools and their parents enjoy a “graduation dinner” at the end of the SHINE: Serious Fun on Saturdays programme, which opened up the facilities of the independent Bolton School to local state school pupils.

London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games members meet pupils from Hawthorn Park Lower School in Dunstable.
