Mateusz Mydlak from Cedar Mount High School and Selina Bardsley of Melland High School pick up Manchester City Council Educational Achievement Awards from Lord Mayor of Manchester Harry Lyons. The awards recognise pupils who have demonstrated excellence.

Bolton Council has won the Education Catering Marketing Award in the Local Authority Caterers’ Association’s Awards for Excellence. The judges were impressed with the team’s use of campaigns and themed menus to boost the take-up of school lunches.

A pendulum clock, part of which is pictured here, is being manufactured entirely by pupils at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys in Bowdon, Cheshire, to mark the school’s centenary in 2012.
