Writing craft
The Art of Teaching Writing (Routledge), a new book by Mark Hartley, is aimed at teachers of 7- to 12-year-olds. It contains 14 units of learning, assessment tasks and guidance on teaching different writing styles, including biographies, fiction and poetry.
Physics fun
TES partner Cyberphysics has shared more than 150 resources for all ages on radioactivity, forces, energy and more. There’s also a creative maths activity using Fuzzy-Felt.

Be the next James Bond
Intelligence agencies MI5, MI6 and GCHQ are looking for “apprentices with intelligence”. The two- year programme will give young people a foundation degree in communications systems, security and computing, and a level 4 diploma in IT professional competence. Global entrepreneurship
Encourage young entrepreneurs and sharpen pupils’ business sense next week using a wide range of resources for Global Entrepreneurship Week (12-18 November) on the TES Resources website. There are tips on organising visits from local companies and projects that test pupils’ skills such as promoting a rock band and creating an advertising campaign.

Save time with stickers
Use vmarsden’s stickers to get through marking more quickly. If a pupil leaves out a full stop, give them a sticker reminding them how and why to use them. There are also stickers for connectives, spacing and “wow” words.
