In the fight between what physics can offer and what sport will allow, which will win? Technology offers endless opportunities, but too much can make the idea of sport meaningless. “Sport vs Physics”, the annual free lecture tour for 11-16-year-olds from the Institute of Physics, explores this delicate balance. Other topics covered include how spin helps David Beckham and Serena Williams fool their opponents. The lecture is touring UK venues until September 23.

Macedonians are passionate about soccer and idolise footballers like Michael Owen and David Beckham. Yorkshire Building Society is running a “Send Shirts to Skopje” campaign.
