Novelist Diran Adebayo (pictured) starts four months as the British Museum’s writer in residence this week, working with visitors to the Reading Room and making a video history of Africans’ experiences in London, including interviews with museum staff. Keep an eye on his web diary at www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk and book for his first public event: on June 16 at 6.30pm he chairs a discussion on the influences of African music. There will be performances from Mercury Prize nominee Soweto Kinch, and Zimbabwean singer-songwriter Netsayi, plus readings on hip-hop culture from Whitbread novel winner Patrick Neate.
