Ofsted has come under increasing pressure from all quarters for being unaccountable, or out of touch, or expensive, or not fit for purpose. So a new framework is produced that permits it to fail more schools. This allows the Government of the day to say to the public that inspection is ever more vital - and Ofsted survives.
Dispensing with CVA, which “entrenches low aspirations”, is an insult to schools, especially those which work with disadvantaged children and which provide support and life skills way beyond the parameters of level 4.
It would be good to say that this is a key part of a “well thought-out Government plan”, but that phrase is becoming an oxymoron.
