Now we can all Mili-babble

Now you too can be David Miliband! Last week, we had a bit of fun over the schools minister’s addiction to jargon and gibberish. This week, courtesy of a helpful reader, we offer a cunning device for helping the gobbledegook-challenged generate their own educational balderdash.

Advertising itself as a tool “to assist in the writing of reports, grant applications, and other documents related to public schools”, the Educational Jargon Generator can be found at www.sciencegeek.netlingo.html.

It is actually inspired by the cant endemic in the US education system but seems perfectly suited for generating the kind of mumbo-jumbo now popular among some edugeeks on these shores.

At the click of a button, teachers can generate bombast-laden phrases such as “research-based differentiated lessons” and “learning intensive risk-taking” without ever having to bother about the irrelevant issue of meaning.
