- HC84 has got their fellow NQTs talking about their first week back in the classroom (www.tes.co.ukfirstweekback) and for some it’s the first day of their NQT appointment - tiglet finally has her own class after working supply last year: “I have had one day in and then been on snow days for the last two days, which is good and bad. So much catching up but at least we have got the first day done with!”

- How would you improve your NQT induction year? Hammyr has just been appointed their school’s NQT co-ordinator and is looking for suggestions to make the year more productive for their future NQTs (www.tes.co.ukNQTinduction). Ideas include a mentor that takes the initiative in making sure the trainee is coping well via regular meetings and the chance to meet other NQTs from other schools. Sillow offers a slightly different perspective “I have found it useful to have a kick up the backside every now and then!”

- Kangel is worried about the amount of PPA time they are actually being allotted compared to what they should be receiving (www.tes.co.ukPPAtime); ahead of a meeting with their mentor this NQT wants to clarify the facts.

- Are you tired already? The new year has not been a happy one thus far for this NQT (www.tes.co.uktiredNQT) who’s back at school but is already feeling as exhausted and out of their depth as they were prior to Christmas. Elliefant says: “I love what I do but just feel like I’ve run out of energy.” Yelrom feels the same and outlines the necessity for stamina in this game, while Neiffer says it’s not all doom and gloom; after all, it’s only a few more weeks until half-term.
