* When reporting how well newly qualified teachers feel prepared to manage behaviour, you might have done better to refer to the results of the Training and Development Agency for Schools survey of some 10,500 NQTs instead of the NASUWT’s much smaller survey (“NQTs blame trainers for behaviour trauma”, TES, October 7).
The TDA survey shows that more than 80 per cent of NQTs rated their initial training as being “good” or “very good”, while (in contrast to the NASUWT results) 65 per cent said it was either “good” or “very good”, and 28 per cent “adequate”, in helping them maintain good behaviour.
