We are pleased the Government and your writers (“Nursery vital to success of the poor”, TES, March 28) are acknowledging the excellence of maintained nursery schools. In fact, all integrated centres also rated highly in the early-years report you refer to grew from maintained nursery schools.
Recent inspections give more powerful evidence of the high standards in maintained nurseries compared with under-fives provision in primary schools. It is important local authorities make best use of this expertise.
