I read with interest both your articles regarding no-notice Ofsted inspections (“Ofsted cold calls in doubt”; “Unions speak out against Ofsted inspection overhaul”, TES, August 15). I am a deputy manager of a small nursery school - seven staff in total, including the manager, who is often included in our staff:child ratios. Nurseries are subject to no- notice inspections too, and it could be argued that all the problems they pose for schools apply equally to us, if not more so. Surely a fair system would be to treat all establishments equally. Perhaps you could run an article on this.
