SCHOOL nurses are to investigate the state of school toilets. The Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Association, which represents more than 60 per cent of school nurses, is concerned that many are unhygienic. The results of its survey, to be conducted next term, will be used to lobby the Government to improve facilities. “Dirty, old, run-down toilets are breeding grounds for germs which, in turn, could affect the health and well-being of pupils,” said Pat Jackson, the association’s officer for school health and public health.
