Parents who are convinced that schoolwork is easier now should have a word with Wendy Brown.
The 33-year-old from Wisconsin became the focus of press attention last week when she was accused of stealing her daughter's identity to become a school cheerleader.
Ms Brown allegedly attended cheerleading practices and went to a pool party at the coach's house. And, while her teachers noticed she looked older, they decided she must be a teenager because of her sullen and timid behaviour.
It was school work that appears to have been Ms Brown's downfall. A teacher said that, on her first day at school, Ms Brown said she was bad at maths and burst into tears.
When she did not return the next day, the school began a truancy investigation, and the whole bizarre case began to emerge.
