Students are worried that Government proposals to deliver greater freedom to colleges by reducing Ofsted inspections for top performers could leave them without up-to-date independent information when choosing a place to study. Shane Chowen, National Union of Students vice-president for FE, said that, while top-performing colleges should be trusted, students and prospective students used Ofsted reports to help them decide where to study.
