THE FIRST independent adjudicator to deal with complaints from the public about the Office for Standards in Education takes up her post this week. Elaine Rassaby will deal with complaints that have not been resolved through OFSTED’s internal procedures.

Ms Rassaby will not able to recommend the re-inspection of a school, but she will be able to recommend that OFSTED review its procedures, reconsider a complaint or apologise. She will not be able to recommend that inspectors’ judgments are altered or that an inspection report is amended.

Ms Rassaby represents patients before mental health review tribunals. She has a degree in applied psychology and is a member of the Law Society’s panel of mental health review tribunal representatives.
