One likes to take a look at the Net

PRINCE Andrew's deep, dark secret has been revealed. No, he's not getting remarried to the Duchess of York. Rather, it seems that Andrew, who turned 40 this year, has a keen interest in technology.

He turned up last Thursday at the Novotel in Hammersmith, west London, to open the Technology Colleges Trust annual conference. Apparently he volunteered to do the honours as he wanted to have a look around its exhibition.

Your diarist was roped into showing HRH a film buffs' website by George Blumenthal who, despite being chairman of the NTL telecm conglomerate, says he cannot use computers.

Apparently the prince doesn't get to use the Internet terribly often, but his favourite websites include those of the BBC and the FT. The latter could be where the former helicopter pilot, who now flies a Ministry of Defence desk, picks up his business tips. As patron of Understanding Industry, an educational charity that aims to improve the business skills of secondary pupils he presumably needs them.
