“There was never a dull moment, due mainly to the diversity of people on the course and the discovery of an untuned zither on the second day.
Writing poetry is not something that many teenagers will admit to, and spending time in an environment where there is no room for embarrassment or coyness is crucial for developing confidence. A week with the poets at Arvon was a valuable experience for picking up technical skills and the constant encouragement of Matthew and Jean to enter the beloved ‘weird zone’. Frankly, that didn’t require much imagination.”
