AFTER Easter heads can expect to find a letter from Ultralab, the learning technology research team, urging them to get non-graduate staff to sign up for a radical new degree which will be taught completely online.

Personalised degrees will be built around jobs including playground supervisors, ICT technicians or bursars. And there is no need to stop working as there is 24-hour access every day of the year. The first 500 places will be registered with Anglia Polytechnic University for a pilot programme and normal annual tuition fees of pound;1,200 will be waived.

Ultralab built the online course for aspiring heads, the National Professional Qualification for Headship, and the Notschool.net for excluded pupils.
