The only option

I am a single-parent with two children in my first year of a four-year initial teacher-training degree. I have chosen this route into teaching because I want to be the best primary generalist I can be. Like Jennifer Salt, I find it difficult to see how the extensive preparation required for competency across the curriculum can be achieved in a single year.

Teaching is not “another career option” for me - it is the career option.

So why should I be penalised financially for that?
