Kielder Forest in Northumberland is one of Britain’s largest nature reserves. Later this year it will be the weekend setting of the 19th Kielder Challenge. Teams of 13 to 16-year-olds will take part in a series of tough environmental adventures. Each team of eight must include four people with disabilities, two of whom must be wheelchair users. The heats for the challenge take place throughout the UK during April and May, and involve a day of unpredictable difficulties, such as negotiating a giant suspended wooden maze by a series of ropes and pulleys.
