An Aberdeenshire primary teacher’s invention of a Walkodile - a means of linking up to six children to a flexible spine - has gone global in its sales.
Elaine Stephen’s brainchild will soon be seen on the streets of Japan, the US and several European countries.
Walkodile encourages more outdoor education for three to seven-year-olds by creating safer walking trips. It was designed to keep children safe near traffic.
The children wear high-visibility harnesses and hold onto a handle. At their destination, the teacher unclips them, but leaves their harnesses on for visibility in the outdoors. When activities are over, the children are clipped back in again for the walk back.
Assistance from Scottish Enterprise enabled Ms Stephen to showcase it at the recent World Toy Fair in Nuremberg, which has led to many overseas orders.
