Parents' missed opportunities

Parents are not attending the meetings organised in advance of a school inspection, according to a survey carried out for the Office for Standards in Education by the National Foundation for Educational Research.

The report shows that while parents are keen to see schools inspected, only small numbers attend the meetings with the inspection team. Most parents welcomed involvement in the inspection process, but some said they would have liked more discussion on resources, organisation of classes (in terms of setting and streaming) and school uniform.
