Parents do not choose independent schools for their strong exam performance, the Scottish Council of Independent Schools says. Instead they rate small classes and individual attention, the wider curriculum that all pupils are involved in and good discipline. Forty-nine per cent of S5 pupils who sit Highers achieve A passes.
