* To make your own set of cheap, lightweight display boards that are suitable for desktop displays, join three cork noticeboards at the sides with hinges at the top and bottom. The boards will fold in on each other easily if the centre board is wider than the two side boards. Map pins or drawing pins can be used to display work, leaflets, etc. The back of the boards can be covered in felt (and lattice work tape if you’re feeling really ambitious) to create extra display areas. An old curtain can be made into a bag with handles so that the boards can be carried around easily. A set of display boards for under Pounds 10 - can’t be bad!
Janice Ash, business education student, University of the West of England * Collect some postcards and pictures from holiday brochures, for example, famous places (Taj Mahal, pyramids), interesting buildings (old castle, windmill), people (in national costume, diving), vehicles. Mount them on cards and add a couple of questions to stimulate ideas.

* Who did you travel with?
* What did you find there?
* Who did you meet?
These can be used for class discussion or to stimulate independent writing. You could combine the children’s writing with similar photographs for a wall display or a class travel brochure.
