Westminster City Council was expected to announce last night the go-ahead for the controversial, Pounds 32 million rebuilding of Pimlico School using private money. The school, which occupies a prime site in one of London’s most desirable postcode areas, will be demolished under a private finance initiative scheme.
The private-sector consortium would fund a state-of-the-art school and in exchange develop a Pounds 20m block of 160 luxury flats for sale.
