(Photograph) - Paul Beveridge (right), a former student mechanic at Falkirk College, knows all about being a successful learner. After completing his apprenticeship at the college, he was signed up by Scuderia Ecosse, a Ferrari-driving Scottish motor racing team. Now, at the age of 23, he is looking forward to his first Le Mans 24-hour race next month as lead mechanic.

But Falkirk College has not finished with him yet: he is a role model for other budding mechanics and helps to motivate new students on the modern apprenticeship course, such as Colin Bryce (left), a student mechanic at Falkirk, who visited the Scuderia Ecosse team’s workshop in West Lothian.

Bob Martin, development manager for work-based learning at the college, commented: “Paul created this opportunity through his own hard work and commitment. He has a real enthusiasm for the trade and for motor sport.”. Photograph by MURRIE THOMSON
