Pay claim rejected

Lecturers' bid for a 6 per cent pay rise has been denied by employers, who say their 1 per cent offer is "final". Unions have rejected it.

Barry Lovejoy, head of FE at the University and College Union, said: "This offer at a stroke has halted progress in reducing the gap between schoolteachers and staff in further education."
