Unions have hailed the completion of a landmark agreement that will give Welsh college lecturers similar pay to schoolteachers. The final phase of the three-stage pound;31.5 million deal was agreed this week. It means lecturers at Wales’s 23 colleges will be paid according to a single national pay spine, as teachers are. The deal will also mean pay rises for part-time staff and more security for those on short-term, hourly-paid contracts. Previously, colleges set their own pay scales, leading to variations.
